US ADBLOCKING RATE REACHES 33.1% IN 2017 [Research + Infographic]
Adblocking is Not Slowing Down
According to a new study conducted by Uponit, an ad recovery platform, which is based on data from its US clients, the estimated rate of adblocking rate in the US has increased by 11% from last year, to reach 33.1%.
The new research, based on tens of million of website pages, found that adblocking rates have increased across various website verticals, with tech websites leading at 38.62%.
According to Yarden Mitrani, Uponit’s COO who led the research, “An interesting finding in our research was the rate at which users uninstalled ad blockers or whitelisted domains in order to allow for ads to show. Once installed, the chances of an ad blocker being uninstalled or disabled via whitelisting of a domain, is less than 1%. This leads to a permanently growing revenue loss for publishers.”
The browser with the highest adblocking rate is Mozilla’s Firefox with 47.5%, followed by Opera with 39.7%.
Among ad blockers, the most popular one is Adblock Plus, which has almost half of the ad blockers market share. 4% of users installed more than 1 ad blocker.
